This is not the end...
Finally, i had finished my own research paper! Wow! Congratulations for myself! During my journey in completing this assignment, i had learned lots of new things. Doing a research is not an easy task. For me, the hardest part is to come out with the most interesting and argumentative topic. Once we get the right one, things will goes smoothly. Even though it is quite a tough work, i can still find the exciting part in it. This assignment taught me how to be patient, and shows me the reality of student's life. Just imagine, for almost 3 semester i'm here, i only been to the main library once. However, in order to complete this task, i've been there many times just to get variety of sources. Hopefull, this is a good start for me to come out with another research in some other time.
i can't wait anymore...
Some of my friends had already submitted their research paper assignment. I do envy them because finally they managed to complete it. What about me? Hahaha... I still working with it. I just can't really wait to finish and submit it. I'm sure, i'll be the happiest person in the world! So, without wasting the time, let's get to work!!!

It is really hard to do a research! Trust me! Sometimes i feel that i'm doing the right things, but most of the time i seems to get blur with the things that i'm dealing with. Can someone out there help me??? Well, i guess there will be no :)
War! War! War!
When I read articles about war, I feel very sad and so much frustrated. The impacts of the war are very much terrible for all people around the world. It’s lucky for me because I was not born during that time. Well, what makes me feel sad is that war happened because of human and human do suffer because of war. It seems like human could not think wisely and they act foolishly. In fact, without they realize it or not, many people out there are suffering because of another people. Human, people, person, being. Are those words have similar meanings? If human is bad, what about people? Are they bad too? God created us with brain and we must use it intelligently for good sake! But then, why there are still lots of people prefer to have war? May be someone can help me to find those answers…
Too much of FINALLY...
Finally, I’ve made up my mind. Hopefully I will not change the topic again. This time, I decided to do on war. Wilfred Owen is the poet that I chose and I work on with his two well-known war poems which are Anthem for Doomed Youth and Dulce Et Decorum Est. My topic sounds like this;
-Discovering the past for the present-
'The issue of war presented in Wilfred Owen’s poetry, “Anthem for Doomed Youth” and “Dulce Et Decorum Est” brings significance towards the nation.'
I think, a lot can be talk for the teaching implication. This kind of topic is very relevant to teach in classroom and it is appropriate for all levels of students. War is such an interesting topic to be touched and it is important for students to know it as it is actually part of the world history.
Why I choose Wilfred Owen? Well, I think, he is the best war poet as his writing is based on his own experience as a soldier who involved in a war. Through his poem, he is able to make the readers to feel his feelings of hatred towards war. There are numbers of poem that he wrote based on his war experience and all of them are worth to read.
i changed my decision
I was actualy half way through dealing with with Edgar Allan Poe. But then, suddenly something enw came to my mind that till I changed my decision. As we all know, within a few months, our country will celebrate its 50 years independence day. Goverment had planned lots of activities and events in order to make it memorable and happening. As well as to instill patriotism in all Malaysian citizen especially the young one. Thus, I think it will be more meaningful if I choose any works that related to this issue so that I can adapt it into a classroom taeching. Now, I am dealing with 2 writers, 2 different stories, but it shares the same theme:
Karim Raslan : Heroes
Llyod Fernando : Green Is The Color
Both of this peice of works emphasis on the previous racial riot that happened in Kuala Lumpur on 13th May 1969. I want my students to know this history and take it as a lesson so that it will not happened again.
Well, that is what I hope to achieve.
Finally, I choose English Literature.
This week is our mid semester break. But, it is not totally a break for us! Lots of work need to be done and to be submit right after the break end. Of course one of them is the draft of my research paper. After keep thinking what to do for my research, at last I decides to work on English Literature and Edgar Allan Poe is the writer that I choose. Why him? Well, from the beginning of this course, since my first semester, I had attracted with almost all his work. The Tell-tale Heart was the first story that I read during my early semester. I found it is very interesting and it makes me attracted to read more and more stories written by him. Thus, as this course allows me to choose a writer, and do research on him or her, I take it as an opportunity for me to know him and his works in depth.
What to think?
What about my research paper? What I’m going to do? Actually, I’m trapped in a situation either to work on English Literature or Malaysian Literature. Both of them seem ok for me. But, there is one section of this assignment that needs us to elaborate on teaching implication by relate it to the writer and stories that we choose. This section actually makes our job becomes more challenging. I think what I should do now is sit down, and list all the positive and negative points when I am dealing with either English or Malaysian Literature.

I am very grateful to have Dr. Arshad as my supervisor. I didn’t mean that those who were assigned with other lecturer had no luck. But then I feel it is easier to work with the lecturer that we often meet. Well, this is just the beginning. We haven’t met him yet since he is quite busy right now. Some of my course mate had met their supervisor and I did ask them what they had discussed. Basically, what I can say is that different supervisor requires different piece of work. Some prefer local writer, some favor unknown writer, and some just let their students to do what ever they want as long as it follows the requirement. Actually, I’m quite excited to meet our supervisor because I really want to know his interest so that we know what we need to do for this assignment.
Am i ready?
Time goes very fast! Supposedly, next few days is the presentation for our position paper. I am totally not ready. I just get an approval for my thesis statement and just imagine within a week, I have to present it. Oh God! How would it be? I still hope that it will be postpone... Hopefully...
it's time to struggle!
Well, I'm actually running out of time! We are now in week 5. The presentation for our position paper is on week 6. Which means next week! Oh God! Please help me... Time goes really fast without we realize it. I need to work harder in order to ensure my work is done on its due date. My latest thesis statement which I am working with at this moment is "Heathcliff's revengeful acts towards the women in his life are signs of strength in his character in Wuthering Heights". I think, this thesis statement has lots of points to be argue.

Help me! I'm drowning with those rejected thesis statement. When I think about it, I really trapped in a very tense condition. Sometimes I know what thesis statement is, but very so often, I don’t know what it is! I had changed the story for three times just because I couldn’t come out with a good thesis statement. After so many times being rejected, finally my tutor approved it. I was so happy but, sadly to said that my happiness wasn’t stay for a long time. When it is time for me to find the point to stand my position, I could hardly find it. Thus, I decided to change the text that I’m working with and also my thesis statement. From Wuthering Heights I changed to Sense and Sensibility and again I go back to Wuthering Heights. And now, I continue to work with it and still working… Good luck to myself! ;)

quite confusing...
The foremost thing need to be done to do a position paper is to come out with a really god thesis statement. I can still remember that we had learned about thesis statement during our first semester at college. But is seems not works for me because i do not really understand the meaning of it. Thus, it makes my work becomes tougher.
the beginning...
This course needs me to do a research. Not just 1, but two! Wow! The word 'research' already frightened me a lot. I know that lots of work need to be done. The first task that i received for this course is the position paper. When the first time i heard about it, i do not have any idea what is that all about. So do my other friends. But then, after Dr. Edwin deeply explain to us regarding the research paper, now we know what to do. Hopefully i can come out with a good position paper which i know it is quite hard to do. Well, what is life without any challenge.
